Rev. DD Adams
After graduation from High School in State College, Pennsylvania, DD Adams attended the Philadelphia Musical Academy from 1972 to 1975 and focused on violin performance; it was during this time she became a Christian. In 1976, she was accepted as a violinist in the United States Air Force Strolling Strings. In 1980, she entered into the United States Army Strolling Strings, known as “Pershing’s Own,” and was stationed permanently at Fort Myer, Virginia until retiring in May 2002. During her time with the Army Strolling Strings she performed numerous violin concertos. She performed for every United States president from President Ford to President George W. Bush, for many heads of state, and other high level government functions. After retiring from military service, she attended Regent University, graduating in 2007 with a degree in Religious Studies. In January 2008, she began studying at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. and graduated in May 2011 with a Master of Divinity degree.
Prior to entering seminary DD was involved in preaching, teaching, outreach, and various music ministries. She received her call to full-time ministry during her first year of seminary. DD has been the appointed pastor in charge of Providence United Methodist Church in Monrovia, Maryland since July of 2011.
DD has a passion for worship, preaching, mission, and leading people from all walks of life into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She values the opportunity to visit with those going through a difficult time in their lives, but also appreciates the chance to celebrate joyous events with them. DD encourages Christians to know what their spiritual gifts are and to utilize them in the body of Christ with the ultimate outcome of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
DD’s outside interests include spending time with her husband Dan and taking care of their probably “too many” pets. DD and Dan enjoy making as many trips to Albany N.Y. to visit with their two granddaughters—Maddie who is 4 years old and Hailey who is 1. DD and Dan celebrate their 37th wedding anniversary this October. Dan is employed as a computer programmer. Prior to moving to Monrovia, Dan was a violinist. DD and Dan played together in the same unit for over 26 years and lived in the Maryland area since 1977. Dan and DD are the proud parents of two grown children, Marcus and Denise. Marcus has a professorship at the University at Albany SUNY, State University of New York with a focus in the History and Science of Philosophy. Marcus lives with his wife Shannon who is a clinical psychologist with a specialty in Autism. Denise is an attorney and lives in Bowie, MD. Her husband Chris works for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in the District of Columbia.
